Isla Lee Bennett
Miss Isla, as we call her, celebrated her 99th birthday on June 16. She is a Pamlico County native and still lives in her home there, with a little help from family and friends. She gets out and about frequently to get a new “do”, visit a few of the doctors that she has not outlived, go to church or dine at the Cow Café. She is a regular and her favorites are our Gobbling Cow sandwich and our homemade Milk Chocowlate ice cream. A few weeks ago, knowing that she played basketball at her high school back in 1928, we asked her if she remembered any of her basketball team fight song. She sang the whole thing without missing a word! She is an amazing lady with a quick wit, fantastic memory and we love having her visit. She is already looking forward to celebrating number 100 at the Cow Café and we hope she celebrates her 110th with us. She also wants everyone to know that Cow Café is not just a place for kids, but is for everyone who is young at heart.
